Psalms chapter nineteen begins with the heading, “[[To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.]]” which breaks down, “To the chief musician” or “to the overseer, preeminent and superintending choral director”, “A Psalm” which means “a melody or poem set to notes” “of David” or “belonging to David whose name means beloved and was the second king of Israel”, and in chapter nineteen and verse one of Psalms David said, “The heavens declare the glory of God” where we read,
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows his handiwork.
The verse begins, “The heavens declare the glory of God;” David began with the words, “The heavens” which means “the visible sky, universe and atmosphere” “declare” or “recount, number, rehearse and count exactly and accurately” “the glory of God” which means “the honor, abundance, riches and dignity belonging to the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. David shared how the “visible sky and universe” enumerate the honor, riches and abundance belonging to the Supreme God.
The verse goes on to say, “and the firmament shows his handiwork.” David continued with the words, “and the firmament” or “and the extended surface, solid expanse and supporting waters” “shows his handiwork” which means “declares, makes conspicuous and known Jehovah God's deeds, acts, undertakings, business and pursuits”. David said the extended surface and solid expanse of the supporting waters in the sky declare his deeds and craftsmanship.
When we consider the words in this verse, we notice David's observance of God's universe and sky. The marvel of God's works and deeds in the atmosphere and universe demonstrate the complexities of God, and His ability to fashion and form all the planets, stars, galaxies and elements of the sky should cause everyone to praise Him. God loves people, and He formed and fashioned them to be in a relationship with Him. Sin separated people from God, so He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for their sins. When they yield to Him, He will forgive their sins, grant them everlasting life and allow them to appreciate all His wonderful works throughout the universe. Praise be unto our worthy Almighty God who reveals His works and wonders in the skies above.
Next time David says, “Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night shows knowledge”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
