Hear Me and Obey - Psalms 18:44

In Psalms chapter eighteen David wrote about Jehovah God, “You have delivered me from the strivings of the people; and you have made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me”, and in chapter eighteen and verse forty-four of Psalms David said, “As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me where we read,

As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.

The verse begins, As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: David began with the words, “As soon as they hear of me” which means “at the moment the unknown people of the nations are given the faculty of hearing, perceiving and understanding tidings, speeches and fame of me, David”, “they shall obey me” or “the people of the foreign nations will listen to, give heed to, consent to and agree with me, David”. David proclaimed that people from the foreign nations would give heed to him at the time they heard about him.

The verse continues, the strangers shall submit themselves unto me. David added the words, “the strangers” or “the aliens, foreigners and heathendom” “shall submit themselves” which means “will posit and subject and their own selves” “unto me” or “to me, David”. David wrote how the “foreigners” from the unknown nations will subject themselves to him.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how David said the “foreigners” from unknown nations would not only give heed to him, but also subject themselves to him. God gave David the power to rule over people, and because he trusted in Jehovah, God elevated him to a position of authority over those he knew and those unknown to him. God desires to bless people, and when we submit to Him through His Son Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and grant us positions of authority and influence to bear witness of His salvation to the world. Let God be praised for His wonderful plan of salvation and elevation of us to positions we could never gain on our own.

Next time David says, “the strangers shall fade away”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
