In Psalms chapter nineteen David wrote, “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb”, and in chapter nineteen and verse eleven of Psalms David said, “Moreover by them is your servant warned” where we read,
Moreover by them is your servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
The verse begins, “Moreover by them is your servant warned:” David began with the words, “Moreover by them” which means “even so and indeed through the law and commandments of Jehovah God” “is your servant warned” or “is Jehovah God's slave, bondman and worshiper admonished, taught and enlightened”. David declared the law and commandments of God serve to admonish and teach people about how to live.
The verse continues, “and in keeping of them there is great reward.” David added the words, “and in keeping of them” or “and when a person guards, observes and takes heed to the laws and commandments of Jehovah” “there is great reward” which means “there exists many abounding and numerous consequences, gains and compensations”. David wrote how the person who observes the laws and commandments of Jehovah God will receive an abounding amount of consequences and compensations.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see through David how there are numerous benefits to observing the laws and commandments of Jehovah God. God protects and provides mankind with so many gifts, and His desire is to keep mankind in a good and blessed manner of living through His “law”. He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross and be raised from the dead three days later so people who believe and trust in Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with Him. In other words, God is for us. He wants us to be cleansed and forgiven of our sins, and He stands ready to offer “great reward” to all who put their trust in Him. Let God be praise for His willingness to extend to us His law, grace, forgiveness and mercy for all eternity, and may we join in celebration with everyone who will reap His benefits forever.
Next time David asks, “Who can understand his errors?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
