In Psalms chapter thirty two David said, “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputes not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long”, and in chapter thirty two and verse four of Psalms David said, “day and night your hand was heavy upon me” where we read,
For day and night your hand was heavy upon me:
my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.
The verse begins, “For day and night your hand was heavy upon me:” David began with the words, “for day and night” which means “because, since and on account that sunrise to sunset and sunset to sunrise” “your hand” or “your, Jehovah God's, power, might and force” “was heavy upon me” which means “existed as weighty, grievous, hard and burdensome on me, David”. David said every day and every night Jehovah God's power and force were upon him.
The verse goes on to say, “my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.” David continued with the words, “my moisture” or “my, David's, juicy, fresh and vigorous bit or dainty” “is turned into the drought” which means “is overturned, overthrown and transformed to the parched and fevered heat” “of summer” or “belonging to the dry season or summer fruit”. “Selah” which means “and pause to meditate upon it”. David wrote how the saliva in his mouth dried up like the parched and fevered “summer” heat, and he instructed those who read and hear his words to pause and think about this.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see another physical manifestation of David attempting to keep his sin hidden. He felt God's powerful “hand” upon him, and the saliva in his mouth dried up. David knew the anguish of guilt because he felt it physically, and God designed the human soul so when sin occurs, we feel it and Him. God desires that all people come to Him through His Son Jesus, and He sent Jesus into the world to die for the sins of every person so they might have a personal relationship with Him. He knows our sin, and He allow physical manifestations of it's affect in our bodies and souls, and only when our conscious is seared will we not feel or know the impact that errors and wrongs have upon our lives. Let Jehovah God and His Son Jesus be praised not only for allowing us to “feel” His heavy conviction when we sin, but also for the provision to be set free from it's physical and mental anguish and guilt.
Next time David says to Jehovah, “I acknowledged my sin unto you, and my iniquity have I not hid”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
