Sing Unto the LORD - Psalms 30:4

In Psalms chapter thirty David said, “O LORD, you have brought up my soul from the grave: you have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit”, and chapter thirty and verse four of Psalms David said, “Sing unto the LORD, O you saints of his”, where we read,

Sing unto the LORD, O you saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

The verse begins, Sing unto the LORD, O you saints of his, ...” David began with the words, “Sing unto the LORD” which means “make music with the voice or upon musical instruments to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “O you saints of his” or “O people who are faithful, kind, godly and pious”. David exhorted people who were faithful and godly to make music with their voices and musical instruments to Jehovah God.

The verse continues,... and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. David added the words, “and give thanks” or “and cast, laud, confess and praise and reverence” “at the remembrance” which means “at the implication, commemoration, memorial and memory” “of his holiness” or “pertaining to his, Jehovah God's, sacredness, separateness and being consecrated, sanctified and hallowed”. David exhorted those who heard and read his words to laud and praise Jehovah God when the memory of His sacredness is brought to mind.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through David how those who are sanctified by Jehovah God are to make music with their voices and musical instruments to Him. They are to demonstratively show their appreciation for Jehovah whenever they remember His sacredness and consecration. God is Holy, and we are unholy. God provided His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our unholy sins, and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He provides us with forgiveness of sins and the promise of everlasting life. For this reason let us “sing” and give thanks to Holy Jehovah God for reaching out to unholy people and providing a way of salvation and rescue to us for all eternity.

Next time David says about Jehovah God, His anger endures but a moment; in his favor is life, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
