Iniquities Prevail Against Me - Psalms 65:3

In Psalms chapter sixty-five David said, “Praise waits for you, O God, in Sion: and unto you shall the vow be performed. O you that hear prayer, unto you shall all flesh come”, and in chapter sixty-five and verse three of Psalms David said, “Iniquities prevail against me” where we read,

Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, you shall purge them away.

The verse begins, Iniquities prevail against me: David began with the words, “Iniquities prevail” or “perversity, depravity, and consequence, guilt or punishment for mischief and evil are strong, mighty and valiant” “against me” which means “on account of and in opposition to me, David”. David said perversity and depravity were strong and mighty in opposition to him.

The verse goes on to say,as for our transgressions, you shall purge them away. David continued with the words, “as for our transgressions” or “in relating to and mentioning our, David and his fellow believers, rebellions, sins and trespasses”, “you shall purge them away” which means “you, Jehovah God, will cover, make an atonement, make reconciliation, atone for, pacify, propitiate and coat with pitch”. David said Jehovah God would atone for and propitiate the sins, errors and mistakes of he and his fellow believers.

When we think through the words in this verse, David described how he was overwhelmed by his perversity and depravity, however, He knew Jehovah God was able to atone for and pacify them. (See Romans 3:25; 1 John 2:2, 4:10) God sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and cleanse us from every error and wrong. (See 1 John 1:9). God desires to save us, and we shall give Him praise, honor and glory for His wonderful gift of salvation and grace for all eternity.

Next time David says, “Blessed is the man whom you choose”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
