Stilling the Seas, Waves and Tumults - Psalms 65:7

In Psalms chapter sixty-five David said of Jehovah God, “by his strength sets fast the mountains; being girded with power”, and in chapter sixty-five and verse seven of Psalms David said God, “stills the noise of the seas” where we read,

Which stills the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.

The verse begins, Which stills the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves ... David began with the words, “which stills the noise” or “who keeps, smoothes and pacifies the roar, crash and uproar” “of the seas” which means “belonging to the large body of waters such as the Red, Dead or Mediterranean Seas”, “the noise” or “the roar, crash and uproar” “of their waves” which means “belonging to the heaps, springs and billows of the seas”. David referred to how Jehovah God manages the roaring of the large bodies of water on the earth as well as their billowing heaps and “waves”.

The verse goes on to say,and the tumult of the people. David continued with the words, “and the tumult” or “and the roar, abundance, murmur and rush” “of the people” which means “belonging to the human beings both male and female”. David said Jehovah God also calmed and pacified the roaring and murmuring of the “people”.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David referred to another powerful act of Almighty God. God made the “seas” and the “noise” within them. He is able to “quiet” the roaring of the waves any time He desires, and He is willing to extend His power to us according to His purpose and plan when we submit our lives to His Son Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”. God loves us, and He wants us to recognize His power and grace to forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and accompany us as we fulfill His plan in this world.

Next time David says, “They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at your tokens”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
