Let the Righteous Be Glad - Psalms 68:3

In Psalms chapter sixty eight David said, “let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God”, and in chapter sixty-eight and verse three of Psalms David said, “let the righteous be glad” where we read,

But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God:

yes, let them exceedingly rejoice.

The verse begins, But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: David began with the words, “but let the righteous” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover allow and permit the just, right, lawful and correct” “be glad” which means “exist as joyful and merry”; “let them rejoice” or “allow and permit the people who are right, correct and lawful to exult, triumph and jump for joy” “before God” which means “in front and in the presence of the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. David wanted the people who are correct and lawful to be joyful and merry as they triumphed and jumped for joy in the presence of Jehovah God.

The verse goes on to say, yes, let them exceedingly rejoice. David continued with the words, “yes, let them” or “even so and indeed, allow and permit them, the people who are just, correct and lawful to” “exceedingly rejoice” which means “gladly, joyfully, with pleasure and happily exult, triumph and jump for joy”. David repeated the idea of people who are just, correct and lawful exulting, triumphing and jumping for joy to an even greater measure.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David desired that people who are lawful and just be joyful and merry in the presence of Jehovah God, and they were to abundantly exult and jump for joy before Him. When we begin to understand that God loves us and sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, we may humble ourselves, repent of our sins and be forgiven as we believe and trust in Him. This should cause us to exult and jump for joy in the presence of Almighty Jehovah God, and we shall continue to do so throughout eternity.

Next time David says, “Sing unto God , sing praises to his name”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
