Men Riding Over Our Heads - Psalms 66:12

In Psalms chapter sixty-six David said, “you, O God, have proved us: you have tried us, as silver is tried. You brought us into the net; you laid affliction upon our loins”, and in chapter sixty-six and verse twelve of Psalms David said, “you have caused men to ride over our heads” where we read,

You have caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water:

but you brought us out into a wealthy place.

The verse begins, You have caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: David began with the words, “you have caused men” or “you, Jehovah God, have placed, dispatched and set people” “to ride over our heads” which means “to be captains, leaders and chiefs above David and his fellow countrymen”; “we went through fire” or “we, David and his fellow countrymen, came in and entered by means of fiery hot flames” “and through water” which means “and by means of a flood”. David said Jehovah God dispatched and assigned male human beings to be leaders over him and his fellow countrymen as they traveled through “fiery fires” and “flooding waters”.

The verse goes on to say, but you brought us out into a wealthy place. David continued with the words, “but you brought us out” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover you, Jehovah God, caused and lead us, David and his fellow countrymen” “into a wealthy place” which means “into a location of abundance and excellence”. David referred to the way Jehovah God lead him and his countrymen to a location that was filled with excellence and abundance.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David referred to the way Jehovah God appointed leaders and chiefs over him and his countrymen, as they journeyed through “fire and water” until they came into an abundant and excellent location. God desires to lead every person into a personal relationship with him, and because He loves us, He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in His Son Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and lead us to a location of excellence and abundance in Heaven with Him.

Next time David says, “I will go into your house with burnt offerings”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
