The Lord Gave the Word - Psalms 68:11

In Psalms chapter sixty eight David said, “You, O God, did send a plentiful rain, whereby you did confirm your inheritance, when it was weary. Your congregation has dwelt therein: you, O God, have prepared of your goodness for the poor”, and in chapter sixty-eight and verse eleven of Psalms David said, “the Lord gave the word” where we read,

The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

The verse begins, The Lord gave the word: David began with the words, “the Lord” or “Adonay or the reverent Master” “gave the word” which means “set, put, bestowed, granted and ascribed the utterance, speech, saying, promise and command”. David referred to the way the reverent Master Jehovah God gave an utterance and command.

The verse goes on to say, great was the company of those that published it. David continued with the words, “great was the company” or “many, numerous, abundant and abounding existed the army and host” “of those that published it” which means “pertaining to people who bore tidings, preached, told and proclaimed the word of God”. David said there were numerous people who bore tidings and proclaimed the “word” of God.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through David how “the Lord” bestowed an utterance and saying, and people began to bear tidings of what God declared. God wants everyone to know His word, and the greatest word He gave to mankind was they could be forgiven because His Son Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty of death for their sins. When we believe in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, we align with “the Lord's” words and comply with His redemption plan to save every person, and this “word” is to be proclaimed to everyone in the world.

Next time David says, “Kings of armies did flee apace”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
