Let the People Praise God - Psalms 67:3

In Psalms chapter sixty-seven David said, “God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. That your way may be known upon earth, your saving health among all nations”, and in chapter sixty-seven and verse three of Psalms David said, “Let the people praise you” where we read,

Let the people praise you, O God; let all the people praise you.

The verse begins, Let the people praise you, O God;David began with the words, “Let the people” or “allow and permit the human beings both male and female” “praise you” which means “laud, give honor and thank you, Jehovah God”, “O God” or “O Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. David wanted the people to allow themselves to give honor and thanksgiving unto Jehovah God.

The verse continues, let all the people praise you. David added the words, “let all the people” or “allow and permit each, every, the whole and everyone of the human beings both male and female” “praise you” which means “laud, give honor and thanksgiving to you, Jehovah God”. David repeated the idea of people giving praise and thanksgiving to Jehovah God, and this time he included each and every one of them.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how David wanted people all over the world to give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God. God is our Creator, and He sustains life within us. He knows the number of hairs on our heads, and He knows the number of our days (See Matthew 10:30; Psalm 90:12). He wants us to have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus. God sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. Let us join David's exhortation and give “praise” and thanksgiving to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for their eternal provision for us.

Next time David says, “O let the nations be glad and sing”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
