Making Their Own Tongue to Fall - Psalms 64:8

In Psalms chapter sixty-four David said the wicked, “search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep. But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded”, and in chapter sixty-four and verse eight of Psalms David said, “they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves” where we read,

So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.

The verse begins, So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: David began with the words, “so they shall make” or “therefore, then, wherefore and on this account they, the workers of iniquity, will cause” “their own tongue” which means “their, the workers of iniquity's, own personal wedges in their mouths used for talking and speaking” “to fall upon themselves” or “ to stumble, totter, be made feeble and weak toward their own selves”. David said the workers of iniquity would cause their own speaking and words to make themselves to be feeble and weak.

The verse continues, all that see them shall flee away. David added the words, “all that see them” or “each, every, the whole and everyone who observe, behold and look at them, the workers of iniquity” “shall flee away” which means “will depart, wander, stray and flutter apart”. David said because the “tongues” of the wicked will make their own selves to be weak and feeble, everyone who observes them will separate and depart from them.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David said the scheming words of the workers of iniquity would come back upon their own selves, and everyone who looks upon them will depart. This is an example of the law of reciprocity where a person's actions, deeds and words return to them. Paul the apostle wrote, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap” (See Galatians 6:7), and these workers of iniquity were certain to know this principle. God loves people, and His desire is to have an intimate personal relationship with everyone, however, should they refuse and reject His Son Jesus as the appeasing sacrifice for their sins, they will be as the workers of iniquity who shall have their own wicked words and deeds return to them in a mighty way.

Next time David says, “all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
