In Psalms chapter thirty one David said, “Oh how great is your goodness, which you have laid up for them that fear you; which you have wrought for them that trust in you before the sons of men!”, and in chapter thirty one and verse twenty of Psalms David said to Jehovah God, “You shall hide them in the secret of your presence” where we read,
You shall hide them in the secret of your presence from the pride of man:
you shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
The verse begins, “You shall hide them in the secret of your presence from the pride of man:” David began with the words, “You shall hide them” which means “You, Jehovah God, will conceal and keep secret the people who fear and trust in Him” “in the secret” or “within the covering, hiding place and shelter” “of your presence” which means “pertaining to your, Jehovah God's, person, face and countenance” “from the pride of man” or “apart and separate from the snares, plots, bands, leagues and conspiracy belonging to people whether male or female”. David said Jehovah God would conceal people who revere and trust in Him within the shelter of His countenance and apart from the snares, plots and conspiracy of people.
The verse goes on to say, “you shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.” David continued with the words, “you shall keep them secretly” or “you, Jehovah God, will hide, treasure up, reserve and protect the people who revere and trust in Jehovah God” “in a pavilion” which means “within a covert thicket, booth, cottage or tabernacle” “from the strife of tongues” or “separate and apart from the controversy, dispute, strife an quarrel pertaining to language, babble and flaming words”. David wrote how Jehovah God would hide those who revere and have confidence in Him within a covert cottage or tabernacle and separate them from flaming words and language.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how David trusted Jehovah God to conceal him from the conspiracies and plots of people who hated him. He knew Jehovah would reserve and protect His believers within a covert thicket or tabernacle where they were to be hidden from the controversial language of people. Words have a tendency to be captured within our hearts, and we should always compare what people say to the word of God. God's word tells us how He loved the world so much that He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and conceal us from the conspiracies of others and the dreadful language they employ. Let all praise and glory be to Jehovah God for His reassuring word.
Next time David says, “He has showed me his marvelous kindness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
