In Psalms eighty nine Ethan the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God said, “Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David”, and in chapter eighty nine and verse thirty-six of Psalms Ethan shared how Jehovah God said, “His seed shall endure for ever” where we read,
His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me.
The verse begins, “His seed shall endure for ever,...” Ethan began with the words, “His seed” or “his, David's, offspring, descendants, children and posterity” “shall endure for ever” which means “will last, happen, fall out, occur, take place and come into being unto long duration, futurity, everlasting, evermore and perpetually”. Ethan shared how Jehovah God said the offspring of David would last evermore and perpetually.
The verse goes on to say, “... and his throne as the sun before me.” Ethan continued with the words, “and his throne” or “and his, David's, seat of honor, royal dignity, authority and power” “as the sun before me” which means “like and similar unto the sun in the sky in front, in view and in the presence of me, Jehovah God”. Ethan shared how Jehovah God said David's royal dignity and power would remain like the sun in the sky in the presence of Him.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how Ethan shared the way Jehovah God promised that David's royal rule would continue eternally, and his royal power would be like the sun in the sky in His presence. God established the “throne” of David eternally through His Son Jesus who came from the lineage of David. Jesus was sent by God to the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to be in His Kingdom forever and ever.
