Salvation is Near to Them Who Fear - Psalms 85:9

In Psalms chapter eighty five the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “Show us your mercy, O LORD, and grant us your salvation. I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly”, and in chapter eighty five and verse nine of Psalms the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “show us your mercy” where we read,

Surely his salvation is near them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.

The verse begins, Surely his salvation is near them that fear him; The Psalmist began with the words, “surely his salvation” or “even, indeed and certainly his, Jehovah God's, deliverance, liberation and rescue” “is near them” which means “is allied, of kin and next to the people both male and female” “that fear him” or “who are morally reverent and in awe of him, Jehovah God”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God's deliverance and liberation is very close to people who are in awe and reverent toward Him.

The verse goes on to say, that glory may dwell in our land. The Psalmist continued with the words, “that glory may dwell” or “so honor, abundance, splendor, reverence, reputation and dignity shall settle down, be established, set and fixed” “in our land” which means “within our, the Psalmist's country, region, district and world”. The Psalmist desired that Jehovah God's honor, reputation and dignity would exist within his and the people of Israel's region and world.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist declared with certainty that the deliverance of Jehovah God is close to people who are in awe of Him. God pours out His honor, abundance, splendor and reverence upon the country and region where people believe in Him, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind so every nation could come unto Him. (See John 3:16) When we yield our lives to Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life provide His salvation and honor to abide with us forever.

Next time the Psalmist said, “mercy and truth are met together”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
