Making the Covenant Void - Psalms 89:39

In Psalms eighty nine Ethan the Psalmist said of Jehovah God, “you have cast off and abhorred, you have been wroth with your anointed”, and in chapter eighty nine and verse thirty-nine of Psalms Ethan said to Jehovah God, “you have made void the covenant of your servant” where we read,

You have made void the covenant of your servant:

you have profaned his crown by casting it to the ground.

The verse begins, You have made void the covenant of your servant: Ethan began with the words, “you have made void” or “you, Jehovah God, have abhorred and rejected” “the covenant” which means “the alliance, pledge, treaty, league, constitution and ordinance” “of your servant” or “belonging to your, Jehovah God's, bondman, man of servile condition and worshiper”. Ethan said Jehovah God rejected and abhorred His bondman's alliance, pledge, constitution and ordinance.

The verse continues, you have profaned his crown by casting it to the ground. Ethan added the words, “you have profaned” or “you have defiled, polluted, desecrated and violated” “his crown” which means “his, Jehovah God's servant's, consecration, separation and diadem” “by casting it” or “through the means of throwing it, the crown” “to the ground” which means “toward the land, earth, country, territory and surface of the earth”. Ethan said Jehovah God defiled and polluted the consecration and diadem of His “servant” by the means of throwing it toward the land.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how Ethan thought and declared that Jehovah God rejected his pledge and treaty with His “bondman” David, and he believed God defiled and polluted David's consecration and diadem as He threw it to the earth. In other words, Ethan thought God abandoned David and His promise to Him. God did not, and He is always for people even when they think otherwise. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and be with us even when it seems like He has rejected us and we feel abandoned.

Next time Ethan the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “you have broken down all his hedges”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
