Justice and Judgment - Psalms 89:14

In Psalms eighty nine Ethan the Psalmist said of Jehovah God, “You have a mighty arm: strong is your hand, and high is your right hand”, and in chapter eighty nine and verse fourteen of Psalms Ethan said to Jehovah God, “justice and judgment are the habitation of your throne” where we read,

Justice and judgment are the habitation of your throne: mercy and truth shall go before your face.

The verse begins, Justice and judgment are the habitation of your throne: Ethan began with the word, “justice” or “rightness, righteousness, justness, victory and prosperity” “and judgment” which means “and ordinance, procedure, litigation and execution” “are the habitation” or “exist as the fixed or established place or foundation and abode” “of your throne” which means “belonging to your, Jehovah God's, seat of honor, royal dignity, authority and power”. Ethan shared how righteousness and litigation are the foundation of the royal dignity and authority of Jehovah God.

The verse goes on to say, mercy and truth shall go before your face. Ethan continued with the word, “mercy” or “goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “and truth” which means “and right, verity, firmness, sureness, reliability, stability and continuance” “shall go before your face” or “will be in front, confront and anticipate your, Jehovah God's, front, countenance and presence”. Ethan shared how Jehovah God's goodness, kindness, faithfulness, reliability and sureness are in His presence.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Ethan highlighted the righteousness, litigation, goodness and reliability of Jehovah God. God's character is like no other, and He wants us to be in a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus. He sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we rely upon, trust in and cling to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and reveal Himself and His character to us to be emulated.

Next time Ethan the Psalmist says, “blessed is the people that know the joyful sound”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
