Unto You Have I Cried, O LORD - Psalms 88:13

In Psalms eighty eight the Psalmist asked Jehovah God, “Shall your lovingkindness be declared in the grave? or your faithfulness in destruction? Shall your wonders be known in the dark? and your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?”, and in chapter eighty eight and verse thirteen of Psalms the Psalmist said, “unto you have I cried, O LORD” where we read,

But unto you have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my prayer prevent you.

The verse begins, But unto you have I cried, O LORD; The Psalmist began with the words, “But unto you” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover to you, Jehovah God” “have I cried” which means “have I, the Psalmist, hallooed and shouted aloud for help”, “O LORD” or “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist shared how he shouted aloud for Jehovah God to give him help and aid.

The verse goes on to say,and in the morning shall my prayer prevent you. The Psalmist continued with the words, “and in the morning” or “and within the break of day, dawn or early sunrise” “shall my prayer prevent you” which means “will my, the Psalmist's, intercession and supplication which by implication is a hymn confront, go before, anticipate or come to meet you, Jehovah God”. The Psalmist desired that his oration and supplication come before Jehovah God early in the morning.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist reminded Jehovah God how he shouted aloud to Him, and he made intercession and supplication to Him early in the morning. God wants us to “cry out” to Him, and when we start our day in “prayer”, we set ourselves in alignment with Him. God loves us, and He wants a personal intimate relationship with us. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and listen when we call out to Him in “prayer”.

Next time the Psalmist asks, “LORD, why cast you off my soul?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
