Who Can Be Compared to the LORD? - Psalms 89:6

In Psalms eighty nine Ethan the Psalmist said, “And the heavens shall praise your wonders, O LORD: your faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints”, and in chapter eighty nine and verse six of Psalms Ethan asked, “who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD?” where we read,

For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD?

who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?

The verse begins, For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? Ethan began with the words, “For who in the heaven” or “because, since and on account that what person within the sky, atmosphere and abode of God” “can be compared” which means “is able to be valued, set in order and arranged” “unto the LORD” or “to Jehovah God who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God”. Ethan questioned whether there was anyone within the abode of Jehovah God who could be valued and set in order unto Him.

The verse goes on to say,who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD? Ethan continued with the words, “who among the sons” or “what person within the midst of the male offspring and descendants” “of the mighty” which means “belonging to the men of rank, heroes, angels or strong ones” “can be likened” or “is able to be resembled, compared and similar” “unto the LORD” which means “to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Ethan questioned what person who was born among the strong and ranking ones that could resemble Jehovah God.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how Ethan seemed to ask a rhetorical question concerning anyone in heaven or on earth who could be compared to Jehovah God. In other words, Jehovah God is greater than all. No one comes close to being as Him, and He decided to send His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and reveal Himself as the One to whom no one in Heaven or earth can compare.

Next time Psalmist says, “God is greatly to be feared”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
