In Psalms chapter eighty nine Ethan the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God said concerning David, “My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him”, and in chapter eighty nine and verse twenty-nine of Psalms Ethan shared how Jehovah God said of David, “His seed also will I make to endure” where we read,
His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
The verse begins, “His seed also will I make to endure for ever, ...” Ethan began with the words, “His seed also” or “His, David's, offspring, descendant and posterity even so and indeed” “will I make to endure” which means “shall I, Jehovah God, put, set, appoint, cause and direct to last and remain” “for ever” or “unto long duration, perpetuity, evermore and of continuous existence”. Ethan shared how Jehovah God determined that David's offspring would remain throughout eternity.
The verse continues, “... and his throne as the days of heaven.” Ethan added the words, “and his throne” or “and his, David's, seat of honor, dignity and authority” “as the days of heaven” which means “in similar manner to the time period belonging to the abode of Jehovah God”. Ethan shared how Jehovah God said He would cause David's seat of honor and dignity to remain like the time period within His dwelling place.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Ethan shared how Jehovah God declared that He would cause the offspring of David to last eternally. God's Son Jesus Christ was born through the lineage of David, and He is the Messiah of the world. He died on the cross for our sins, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. Jesus shall rule forever, and we become a part of His Kingdom when we surrender to Him.
Next time Ethan the Psalmist shares how Jehovah God begins to say of David, “If his children forsake my law”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
