Adonijah, Bigvai and Adin - Nehemiah 10:16

In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah speaking of the “sealing” of the “sure covenant” the people of Israel made with Jehovah God said, “Now those that sealed were, Nehemiah, the Tirshatha” and others including, “the priests, and the Levites, and their brethren, Shebaniah, Hodijah, Kelita, Pelaiah, Hanan, Micha, Rehob, Hashabiah, Zaccur, Sherebiah, Shebaniah, Hodijah, Bani, Beninu. The chief of the people; Parosh, Pahathmoab, Elam, Zatthu, Bani, Bunni, Azgad and Bebai ...”, and in chapter ten and verse sixteen of Nehemiah, Nehemiah named, “Adonijah, Bigvai and Adin” where we read,

Adonijah, Bigvai, Adin

The verse reads, “Adonijah, Bigvai, Adin” Nehemiah began with the word, “Adonijah” whose name means “my lord is Jehovah”, “Bigvai” or “in my bodies”, “Adin” whose name means “dainty or delicate”. Nehemiah shared how the men of Israel whose names mean, “my lord is Jehovah, in my bodies and delicate” were among those who “sealed” the “sure covenant” with God.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Nehemiah about three more of the “chief of the people”who signed the document which committed to following Jehovah God and His commands. “Adonijah, Bigvai and Adin”determined to keep God's ways and laws along with the others in Israel who desired to do so. God wants us to commit our lives to Him, and He provided His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our errors, wrongs and mistakes to demonstrate His willingness to forgive our sins when we believe and trust in Him. God raised Jesus from the dead three days later so we may have eternal life when we surrender to Him, and forever we shall be with Him because of His willingness to do His part and ours. (See John 3:16-17; 2 Corinthians 5:21)
