In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah speaking of the “sealing” of the “sure covenant” the people of Israel made with Jehovah God said, “Now those that sealed were, Nehemiah, the Tirshatha” and others including, “the priests, and the Levites, and their brethren, Shebaniah, Hodijah, Kelita, Pelaiah, Hanan, Micha, Rehob, Hashabiah, Zaccur, Sherebiah, Shebaniah ...”, and in chapter ten and verse thirteen of Nehemiah, Nehemiah named, “Hodijah, Bani, and Beninu” where we read,
Hodijah, Bani, Beninu.
The verse reads, “Hodijah, Bani, Beninu.” Nehemiah began with the word, “Hodijah” whose name means “majesty of Jehovah”, “Bani” or “built”, “Beninu” whose name means “our son”. Nehemiah shared how “Hodijah, Bani, and Beninu” were among the “brethren” of the “Levites” who “sealed” the “sure covenant” with Jehovah God.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Nehemiah about three more men who signed the agreement with Jehovah God. “Hodijah, Bani, and Beninu” whose names mean, “majesty of Jehovah, built and our son” committed to keeping a personal relationship with Him. God gave His Son Jesus to the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when He raised Him from the dead three days later, He promised to forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and include us in His list of those who are redeemed forever and ever.
Next time Nehemiah mentions, “the chief of the people”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
