Ahijah, Hanan and Anan - Nehemiah 10:26

In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah speaking of the “sealing” of the “sure covenant” the people of Israel made with Jehovah God said, “Now those that sealed were, Nehemiah, the Tirshatha” and others including, “the priests, and the Levites, and their brethren” which included, “Hodijah, Hashum, Bezai, Hariph, Anathoth, Nebai, Magpiash, Meshullam, Hezir, Meshezabeel, Zadok, Jaddua, Pelatiah, Hanan, Anaiah, Hoshea, Hananiah, Hashub, Hallohesh, Pileha and Shobek, Rehum, Hashabnah and Maaseiah”, and in chapter ten and verse twenty-six of Nehemiah, Nehemiah named,“Ahijah, Hanan and Anan ...” where we read,

and Ahijah, Hanan and Anan

The verse reads, “and Ahijah, Hanan, Anan ...” Nehemiah began with the words, “and Ahijah” or Ahiah whose name means “brother of Jehovah (Yahu)”, “Hanan” or Canan whose name means “he is merciful”, “Anan” whose name means “cloud”. Nehemiah shared how “Ahijah, Hanan and Anan” also put their names on the “sure covenant” with Jehovah God. 

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Nehemiah about three more men who were fellow “Levites” that signed the agreement with Jehovah God. God loves people, and He wants us to be committed to Him. We are blessed when we align with Him and His ways, and because He loves us so much, He demonstrated His love by sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind and to be resurrected from the dead three days later. When we yield to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His Holy Spirit within us to guide us into all truth and to empower us to live in a manner that is pleasing and committed to Him. (See John 16:13; Acts 1:8)
