In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah speaking of the “sealing” of the “sure covenant” the people of Israel made with Jehovah God said, “Now those that sealed were, Nehemiah, the Tirshatha, the son of Hachaliah, and Zidkijah, Seraiah, Azariah, Jeremiah ...”, and in chapter ten and verse three of Nehemiah, Nehemiah named, “Pashur, Amariah, Malchijah” where we read,
Pashur, Amariah, Malchijah ...
The verse reads, “Pashur, Amariah, Malchijah, ...” Nehemiah began with the word, “Pashur” whose name means “freedom”, “Amariah” or “Jehovah speaks or Yah has promised”, “Malchijah” whose name means “my king is Jehovah”. Nehemiah said “Pashur, Amariah, Malchijah” who were among the people of Israel signed the “sure covenant”.
When we meditate upon words in this verse, we learn through Nehemiah about another group of men who signed or “sealed” the “sure covenant” among the people of Israel. “Freedom, Jehovah speaks and my king is Jehovah” recognized the value of a commitment to Jehovah God. God knows everyone's name, He is committed to us and He loves all of us. He proved His love to us by sending His Son Jesus to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and He was raised from the grave three days later so when we put our faith and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and fill us with His Holy Spirit so we may included in His “sure covenant” to us in this world. (See Acts 1:8)
Next time Nehemiah mentions, “Hattush, Shebaniah, Malluch, ...”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
