In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah speaking of the “sealing” of the “sure covenant” the people of Israel made with Jehovah God said, “Now those that sealed were, Nehemiah, the Tirshatha” and others including, “the priests, and the Levites, and their brethren” which included, “Hodijah, Hashum, Bezai, Hariph, Anathoth, Nebai, Magpiash, Meshullam, Hezir, Meshezabeel, Zadok, Jaddua, Pelatiah, Hanan, Anaiah, Hoshea, Hananiah, Hashub, Hallohesh, Pileha, Shobek, Rehum, Hashabnah, Maaseiah, Ahijah, Hanan and Anan ...”, and in chapter ten and verse twenty-seven of Nehemiah, Nehemiah named, “Malluch, Harim and Baanah” where we read,
Malluch, Harim, Baanah
The verse reads, “Malluch, Harim, Baanah ...” Nehemiah began with the word, “Malluch” or Melicu whose name means “counselor”, “Harim” or “dedicated”, “Baanah” or Baana whose name means “in affliction”. Nehemiah shared how the men of Israel who were fellow “Levites” whose names mean, “counselor, dedicated and in affliction” signed their names to the agreement with Jehovah God.
When we meditate upon words in this verse, we learn through Nehemiah how “Malluch, Harim and Baanah” were among the people of Israel who “sealed” the “sure covenant” with Jehovah God. Each of these men were committed to keeping the ways of God, and God knew all of them. God knows us as well, and He loves us. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins to prove His love and commitment to us, and He raised Jesus from the dead three days later so when we surrender our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a passion and ability by His Holy Spirit to keep His “covenant” for all eternity.
