Harim, Meremoth and Obadiah - Nehemiah 10:5

In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah speaking of the “sealing” of the “sure covenant” the people of Israel made with Jehovah God said, Now those that sealed were, Nehemiah, the Tirshatha, the son of Hachaliah, and Zidkijah, Seraiah, Azariah, Jeremiah, Pashur, Amariah, Malchijah, Hattush, Shebaniah and Malluch ...”, and in chapter ten and verse five of Nehemiah, Nehemiah named, “Harim, Meremoth, Obadiah” where we read,

Harim, Meremoth, Obadiah, ...

The verse reads, “ Harim, Meremoth, Obadiah, ...” Nehemiah began with the word, “Harim” whose name means “dedicated”, “Meremoth” or “elevations”, “Obadiah” whose name means “servant of Jehovah”. Nehemiah shared howHarim, Meremoth and Obadiah” were among the men of Israel who signed the “sure covenant” with Jehovah God.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Nehemiah about another three men who documented their agreement with Jehovah God. The people of Israel suffered great consequences because they forsook God and His ways, and now they were determined to follow Him. God wants this for us, however, we have all sinned against Him and those sins lead to death. (See Romans 3:23;6:23) For this reason God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and He raised Him from the dead three days later. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life which demonstrates His keeping of His New Testament commitment to us.

Next time Nehemiah mentions, “Daniel, Ginnethon and Baruch, ...”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
