Pelatiah, Hanan and Anaiah - Nehemiah 10:22

In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah speaking of the “sealing” of the “sure covenant” the people of Israel made with Jehovah God said, “Now those that sealed were, Nehemiah, the Tirshatha” and others including, “the priests, and the Levites, and their brethren” which included, “Hodijah, Hashum, Bezai, Hariph, Anathoth, Nebai, Magpiash, Meshullam, Hezir, Meshezabeel, Zadok and Jaddua”, and in chapter ten and verse twenty-two of Nehemiah, Nehemiah named,“Pelatiah, Hanan and Anaiah ...” where we read,

Pelatiah, Hanan, Anaiah

The verse reads, “ Pelatiah, Hanan, Anaiah ...” Nehemiah began with the word, “Petlatiah” whose name means “Jehovah delivers”, “Hanan” or Canan whose name means “he is merciful”, “Anaiah” whose name means “Jehovah has answered”. Nehemiah shared how the fellow Levites of Israel whose names mean, “Jehovah delivers, he is merciful and Jehovah has answered” signed the agreement with Jehovah God.

When we think through Nehemiah's words in this verse, we see how there were more men of Israel who were fellow Levites that “sealed” the “sure covenant” with Jehovah God. One by one each of these men committed to a relationship with God and to keep His laws and ways. God wants all of us to come to Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross and was raise from the grave three days later for the sins of the whole world. When we submit to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His Holy Spirit within us so we realize to an even greater degree that, “Jehovah delivers, God is merciful and God has answered” our prayer to be saved which is our greatest need.
