You are LORD Alone - Nehemiah 9:6

In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah said, “Now in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sack-clothes, and earth upon them. And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers. And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the LORD their God one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed, and worshiped the LORD their God. Then stood up upon the stairs, of the Levites, Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani, and cried with a loud voice unto the LORD their God. Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, Stand up and bless the LORD your God for ever and ever: and blessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise”, and in chapter nine and verse six of Nehemiah, Nehemiah shared how the Levites said, “you, even you, are LORD alone” where we read,

You, even you, are LORD alone; you have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and you preserve them all; and the host of heaven worships you.

The verse reads, “You, even you, are LORD alone; you have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, ...”Nehemiah began with the words, “you, even you” which means “you, Jehovah God, indeed and also, you, Jehovah God”,“are LORD alone” or “exist as Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God, solely, separate and by Your Own Self”, “you have made heaven” which means “you, Jehovah God, have fashioned, accomplish and produced the visible sky, atmosphere, abode of the stars and the sidereal heaven where Jehovah God and other spiritual beings dwell”, “the heaven of heavens” or “the visible sky, atmosphere, abode of the stars and the sidereal heaven where Jehovah God and other spiritual beings dwell of the visible sky, atmosphere, abode of the stars and the sidereal heaven where Jehovah God and other spiritual beings dwell”, “with all their hosts” which means “including each, every, the whole and every one of their, the heavens', angel army and messengers”. Nehemiah shared how the“Levites” continued their adoration of Jehovah God by declaring that only He is Jehovah God, and He solely fashioned and created the “visible sky, atmosphere, abode of the stars and the sidereal Heaven where He abides. 

The verse continues, “... the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and you preserve them all; and the host of heaven worships you.” Nehemiah added the words, “the earth” or “the land, country, territory and district”, “and all things that are therein” which means “and each, every, the whole and everything that exists within the earth”, “the seas” or “the large bodies of water such as the Red, Dead and Mediterranean Seas”, “and all that is therein”which means “and each, every, the whole and everything that exists within the seas”, “and you preserve them all” or “and you, Jehovah God, give life, sustain life and continue life for each, every, the whole and everyone of the things in the earth and seas”; “and the host of heaven worships you ” which means “and the angel army and messengers belonging to the sidereal heaven bows down, prostrate themselves, reverences and gives obeisance to you, Jehovah God”. Nehemiah shared how the “Levites” also recognized Jehovah God's creation of the world, everything within it, the large masses of water, everything within them and His sustaining of life to all of them including the “heavenly host of angel armies” who give obeisance to Him.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Nehemiah that the “Levites” made a declaration before the people of Israel concerning Jehovah God's creation of the world, the seas and the heavenly angel army. They also noted God's ability to give life to everything within them including the angelic “host” or army who honor Him continually. God made everything, and He sustains life according to His purposes and plans. When we yield our lives to His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind and resurrected from the dead three days later, we shall be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and taught the value of giving Him praise, honor and adoration for who He is and for everything He has done.
