Hallohesh, Pileha and Shobek - Nehemiah 10:24

In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah speaking of the “sealing” of the “sure covenant” the people of Israel made with Jehovah God said, “Now those that sealed were, Nehemiah, the Tirshatha” and others including, “the priests, and the Levites, and their brethren” which included, “Meshezabeel, Zadok, Jaddua, Pelatiah, Hanan, Anaiah, Hoshea, Hananiah and Hashub”, and in chapter ten and verse twenty-four of Nehemiah, Nehemiah named, “Hallohesh, Pileha and Shobek ...” where we read,

Hallohesh, Pileha, Shobek

The verse reads, “Hallohesh, Pileha, Shobek ...” Nehemiah began with the word, “Hallohesh” whose name means “whisperer”, “Pileha” or “slicing”, “Shobek” whose name means “free”. Nehemiah shared how “Hallohesh, Pileha and Shobek” were among the men of Israel who were “fellow Levites” and signed the “sure” agreement with Jehovah God.

When we meditate upon Nehemiah's words in this verse, we discover three more men of Israel who were “fellow Levites” that signed the “sure covenant” and committed to obey God and His commands. One by one each of these men were demonstrating their willingness to discover what God said and promised to be true to His words. God wants us to discover Him and His word, the Bible, and when we find that He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins and raised Him from the dead three days later, we are to yield to Him as our “Savior and Lord” which will cause Him to forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide us with His Holy Spirit who shall guide us into all truth and empower us to live according to that truth for all eternity.
