In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah speaking of the “sealing” of the “sure covenant” the people of Israel made with Jehovah God said, “Now those that sealed were, Nehemiah, the Tirshatha, the son of Hachaliah, and Zidkijah, Seraiah, Azariah, Jeremiah ...”, and in chapter ten and verse four of Nehemiah, Nehemiah named, “Hattush, Shebaniah, Malluch” where we read,
Hattush, Shebaniah, Malluch ...
The verse reads, “Hattush, Shebaniah, Malluch ...” Nehemiah began with the word, “Hattush” whose name means “assembled”, “Shebaniah” or “increased by Jehovah”, “Malluch” or “Melicu” whose name means “counselor”. Nehemiah shared how “Hattush, Shebaniah, Malluch” were added to his list of the men of Israel who “sealed” or signed the “sure covenant” among them.
When we think through the words in this verse, we discover through Nehemiah more of the names of the men of Israel who signed the “sure covenant” with Jehovah God. “Hattush, Shebaniah and Malluch” were known as “assembled, increased by Jehovah and counselor”, and they were accounted for by Nehemiah and Jehovah God as those who signed this “sure covenant” with Him. God knows us, and He loves us. He proved His love by sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and He raised Him from the dead three days later so all who put their faith and trust in Him will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and numbered among the masses of believers who shall live in Heaven with Him forever. This is the “sure covenant” that shall be kept by God, and we need only to rely upon Him.
