A Loathsome Disease - Psalms 38:7

Psalms chapter thirty eight David said, “my iniquities are gone over my head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness. I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long”, and in chapter thirty eight and verse seven of Psalms David said, “my loins are filled with a loathsome disease” where we read,

For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.

The verse begins, For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: David began with the words, “For my loins” or “because, since and on account that my, David's, stupidity, folly, confidence and hope” “are filled” which means “exist as full, abundant, accomplished, consecrated and satisfied” “with a loathsome disease” or “but the means of a burning, scorched, parched and roasted sickness”. David said a raging flame ran through his body with a searing pain because of his sin.

The verse goes on to say,and there is no soundness in my flesh. David continued with the words, “and there is no soundness” or “and there exists not any entirety, wholesomeness and completeness” “in my flesh” which means “within my, David's, body”. David shared how his body was not healthy because of his sin.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how David suffered in his body and soul because of his sin. God knew there would be adverse circumstances whenever we sinned, and He attempted to protect us from harm by giving us His law and direction. Mankind, however, rebelled against God's ways, and therefore the consequences of sin are manifested throughout the world. Because of this, God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of every person, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and be with us when we endure the pain and suffering of the “loathsome disease” of sin.

Next time David says, I am feeble and sore broken, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
