In Psalms chapter thirty seven David said, “I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yes, I sought him, but he could not be found”, and in chapter thirty seven and verse thirty-seven of Psalms David said, “mark the perfect man, and behold the upright” where we read,
Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
The verse begins, “Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright:” David began with the words, “Mark the perfect man” or “observe, watch and take heed of the complete, morally innocent and ethically pure person whether male or female”, “and behold the upright” which means “and look at, inspect, perceive and consider the person whether male or female who is straight, correct, right, straightforward, fitting, proper and righteous”. David instructed his readers and listeners to watch people who are morally innocent and ethically pure, and to observe people who are righteous and correct.
The verse goes on to say, “for the end of that man is peace.” David continued with the words, “for the end of that man” or “because, since and on account that the after part, latter and hindermost time and reward belonging to the person who is “perfect and upright” “is peace” which means “exists as complete, sound, safe, quiet, tranquil and content”. David said the reward of the person who is “perfect and upright” is tranquil, quiet and safe.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how David instructed his readers and listeners to observe people who are morally innocent and ethically pure because their lives finish in tranquility and safety. The idea is that these people align themselves with Jehovah God and His plan of redemption for mankind. God is perfect and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of the world, and when we submit our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to live in a way that is “perfect and upright” before Him. Jesus is “perfect”, and He is “upright”, and when we observe His life, His manner of living will be reflected in our own and oh the promise of “peace” that will be afforded to us for all eternity.
Next time David says, “the transgressors shall be destroyed together”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
