In Psalms chapter thirty eight David said to Jehovah God, “Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slips, they magnify themselves against me. For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me”, and in chapter thirty eight and verse eighteen of Psalms David said, “I will declare my iniquity” where we read,
For I will declare my iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.
The verse begins, “For I will declare my iniquity;” David began with the words, “For I will declare” or “because, since and on account that I, David, shall publish, make known and proclaim” “my iniquity” which means “my, David's, perversity, depravity, guilt and punishment”. David determined to proclaim his perversity and guilt.
The verse continues, “I will be sorry for my sin.” David added the words, “I will be sorry” or “I, David, shall fear, be anxious, concerned and have dread” “for my sin” which means “on behalf of my, David's, punishment and purification from errors, mistakes and wrongs with ceremonial uncleanness”. David expressed his concern and dread over his error and wrong.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David turned his attention to his own errors and wrongs before Jehovah God. He declared his confession of “sin”, and because this is a first step in correction, David admitted his wrong before Jehovah God. John the apostle said of God, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (See 1 John 1:9), and Jesus' first recorded words when He was on earth were, “Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (See Matthew 4:17) If we desire a personal relationship with Jehovah God, we must humble ourselves before Him, repent of our sins and receive His Son Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”. There is no other way to have a relationship with God, (See John 14:6) and when we submit to Him, we will receive forgiveness of our sins, everlasting life with Him and His Holy Spirit to lead and guide us in every step of our lives. (See John 16:11) Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for providing us with the way to relate to Him and to experience His amazing grace in our lives.
Next time David says, “my enemies are lively, and they are strong”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
