Psalms chapter thirty eight David said, “O LORD, rebuke me not in your wrath: neither chasten me in your hot displeasure”, and in chapter thirty eight and verse two of Psalms David said, “your arrows stick fast in me” where we read,
For your arrows stick fast in me, and your hand presses me sore.
The verse begins, “For your arrows stick fast in me, ...” David began with the words, “For your arrows” or “because, since and on account that your, Jehovah God's, piercing spears, darts or shafts” “stick fast in me” which means “penetrate, descend and press down within me, David”. David said Jehovah God's “piercing darts” penetrate deep into him.
The verse continues, “... and your hand presses me sore.” David added the words, “and your hand” or “and your, Jehovah God's, strength, might and authority of His right hand” “presses me sore” which means “descends upon and penetrates me, David, to a broken place”. David said Jehovah God's “hand” of authority, power and might descends upon him to the point of brokenness.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see the effects the weapons of Jehovah God had upon David. The “piercing” David encountered was in his soul, and perhaps because he was suffering some physical ailment David felt like God's hand was heavy upon him. God loves people, and because they were separated from Him, He sent His Son Jesus to be crucified for the sins of the world. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and begin to “sanctify” us. Sometimes this includes afflictions, troubles, trials and convictions because He knows how we should live and be. Let us be aware when Jehovah God's piercings penetrate and His “powerful hand” is upon us, it is because He is leading us in a manner that is pleasing to Him.
Next time David says, “There is no soundness in my flesh because of your anger”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
