Laying Snares for Me - Psalms 38:12

In Psalms chapter thirty eight David said, “My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off”, and in chapter thirty eight and verse twelve of Psalms David said, “they also that seek after my life lay snares for me” where we read,

They also that seek after my life lay snares for me:

and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.

The verse begins, They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: David began with the words, “They also” or “the people even so and indeed” “that seek after my life” which means “who desire, require, exact, request and demand my, David's, soul, self, appetite, mind, living, inner being and appetite of emotions and passions” “lay snares for me” or “knock, strike, take aim and entrap me, David”. David said people who desired to kill him set traps for his soul.

The verse continues, and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long. David added the words, “and they that seek my hurt” or “and the people who desire, require, exact, request and demand my, David's, bad, unpleasantness, evil and malignancy” “speak mischievous things” which means “utter, declare and proclaim words of ruin, destruction and calamity”, “and imagine deceits” or “and muse, growl, mutter, meditate, devise, plot and think about treachery, fraud, guile and subtlety” “all the day long” which means “throughout the whole of the sunrise to sunset”. David wrote how people who wanted bad to come upon him were not only speaking malignant and evil things about him, but also were thinking about ways of treachery and fraud against him.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how David had enemies who desired that he suffer pain and even death if possible. They set traps for him, and they wanted him to suffer through their malicious words and evil imaginations. Jesus said, “Woe unto the world because of offenses! for it must needs be that offenses come; but woe to that man by whom the offense comes”, (See Matthew 18:7), and anyone who yields their life to Jehovah God through His Son Jesus will certainly have people, even ones close to them, who will think about their demise. They did so with Jesus, and He came to pay the price of death on the cross for the sins of the world. Anyone who humbles themselves, repents of their sins and receives Him as their “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and be defended by Him against anyone who speaks, plots and plans their “hurt” and demise.

Next time David says, but I, as a deaf man, heard not, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
