Psalms chapter thirty eight David said, “my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh”, and in chapter thirty eight and verse eight of Psalms David said, “I am feeble and sore broken” where we read,
I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.
The verse begins, “I am feeble and sore broken:” David began with the words, “I am feeble” or “I, David, exist as sluggish, benumbed and faint” “and sore broken” which means “and exceedingly crushed, contrite and collapsed to pieces”. David said he was sluggish, faint and crushed to pieces.
The verse continues, “I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.” David added the words, “I have roared” or “I, David, moaned like a mighty lion” “ by reason of the disquietness” which means “because of the groaning, snarling and discomposure” “of my heart” or “belonging to my, David's, inner man, will, understanding, knowledge, thinking, reflection, memory, inclination, resolution, determination and seat of appetites, emotions and passions”. David shared how he moaned aloud because of the uneasiness of his soul.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David felt exceedingly weak, sluggish and broken to pieces because of his suffering. He also moaned loudly because of the groaning within his soul, and God knew this would be the effect of his sin. God loves us, and when we suffer because of sin in our lives, we must remember that He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross to pay the price of death for our sin. We have an opportunity to receive Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, and when we submit to Him, we shall be forgiven of our sins and granted everlasting life with Him. Though we are “feeble, sore broken and moan” because of the discomposure of our souls, Jesus will help us as we place our faith and trust in Him.
Next time David says, “Lord, all my desire is before you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
