In Psalms chapter thirty eight David said, “Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slips, they magnify themselves against me”, and in chapter thirty eight and verse seventeen of Psalms David said, “my sorrow is continually before me” where we read,
For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.
The verse begins, “For I am ready to halt, ...” David began with the words, “For I am ready” or “because, since and on account that I, David, am made firm, fixed, established and securely determined” “to halt” which means “to limp, stumble and be full of adversity”. David said he was on the verge of stumbling and living in adversity.
The verse goes on to say, “... and my sorrow is continually before me.” David continued with the words, “and my sorrow” or “and my, David's, pain, anguish, affliction and grief” “is continually before me” which means “is perpetually, continuously and constantly in front and in the presence of me, David”. David said he was constantly afflicted with grief, pain and anguish.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David knew he was on the verge of a collapse, and he was continuously in the presence of grief and affliction. David understood Jehovah God would care for his grievous condition, and he brought his request before Him. God loves us, and He wants to be involved in our lives. He delights in being with us when we face opposition, experience afflictions and go through troublesome circumstances. He provided His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins and to be our “Savior and Lord”, and when we rely upon, cling to and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and accompany us when we experience grief, sorrow and pain.
Next time David says, “I will declare my iniquity”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
