In Psalms chapter thirty eight David said, “For I will declare my iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin”, and in chapter thirty eight and verse nineteen of Psalms David said, “my enemies are lively, and they are strong” where we read,
But my enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.
The verse begins, “But my enemies are lively, and they are strong:” David began with the words, “But my enemies” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover my, David's, hating foes and adversaries” “are lively” which means “exist as active and quick”, “and they are strong” or “and David's hating foes and enemies exist as numerous, mighty and powerful”. David said the people who hated him and were his adversaries were active, quick and powerful.
The verse goes on to say, “and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.” David continued with the words, “and they that hate me wrongfully” or “and the people who are hateful and as foes to me, David, in a deceptive, disappointed, false, wrong and fraudulent way” “are multiplied” which means “have become many, numerous and increased”. David said people who were deceptive, false and odious to him increased in number.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David not only acknowledged the activity and power of his foes, but also how they were increasing in number. Although all these people were against him, David's trust and expectation was in Jehovah God. David previously wrote, “Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple” (See Psalm 27:3-4), and he continued that line of thinking throughout his life. God loves people, and He desires to have a personal intimate relationship with everyone who will submit themselves to His Son Jesus as their “Savior and Lord”. He sent His Son Jesus to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield ourselves to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and stand against those who are opposed to us regardless of their great number.
Next time David says, “they also that render evil for good are my adversaries”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
