In Psalms chapter thirty seven David said, “Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off. But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble”, and in chapter thirty seven and verse forty of Psalms David said, “the LORD shall help them, and deliver them” where we read,
And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them:
he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
The verse begins, “And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them:” David began with the words, “And the LORD” or “and Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “shall help them” which means “will succor, protect, aid and support them, the righteous”, “and deliver them” or “and rescue, cause to escape and bring them, the righteous, into security and safety”. David said Jehovah God would support and rescue people who are “righteous”.
The verse continues, “he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.” David added the words, “and he shall deliver them” or “and he, Jehovah God, will rescue, cause to escape and bring them, the righteous, into security and safety” “from the wicked” which means “apart and separate from people who are criminal, ungodly, guilty of sin and hostile to God and others”, “and save them” or “and liberate, make victorious, defend and deliver the righteous”, “because they trust in him” which means “since and on account that they, the righteous, believe and have faith and confidence within him, Jehovah God”. David said Jehovah God would rescue the “righteous” from people who are ungodly and hostile to Him and others because they put their faith and trust in Him.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through David about the assistance and rescue Jehovah God provides to people who put their confidence in Him. Trusting in, relying upon and clinging to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus invites His provision and protection into our lives. God loves people, and He wants us to trust in Him because it is to our advantage to do so. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of everyone, and He raised Jesus from the grave three days later to provide forgiveness of sins and everlasting life to anyone who surrenders their life to Him. God's provision, protection and victory are given to us through Jesus, and we shall praise Him for all eternity for His blessings and grace extended to us.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see David say, “O LORD, rebuke me not in your wrath”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
