In Psalms chapter thirty eight David said, “My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off. They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long. But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that opens not his mouth. Thus I was as a man that hears not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs”, and in chapter thirty eight and verse fifteen of Psalms David said, “For in you, O LORD, do I hope” where we read,
For in you, O LORD, do I hope: you will hear, O Lord my God.
The verse begins, “For in you, O LORD, do I hope:” David began with the words, “For in you” or “because, since and on this account within you, Jehovah God”, “O LORD” which means “O Jehovah God”, “do I hope” or “I, David, wait, am patient and trust”. David declared his trust and expectation to be in Jehovah God.
The verse goes on to say, “you will hear, O Lord my God.” David continued with the words, “you will hear” or “you, Jehovah God, shall answer, respond and pay attention”, “O Lord my God” which means “O Adonay or reverent master, my, David's, Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. David said Jehovah God as his reverent master would answer, respond and pay attention to him.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David put his faith and trust in Jehovah God whom he considered his “reverent master”. David knew Jehovah God would listen to and respond to him, and therefore he could “expect” that God would pay attention to him. Jehovah God desires a personal intimate relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when we believe and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and be attentive to our requests and concerns. God loves us, and His invitation to come to Him through His Son Jesus is available to everyone, and if we want to be heard, He is willing to answer anyone who comes to Him according to His way.
Next time David says, “Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
