Psalms chapter thirty eight David said, “O LORD, rebuke me not in your wrath: neither chasten me in your hot displeasure. For your arrows stick fast in me, and your hand presses me sore”, and in chapter thirty eight and verse three of Psalms David said, “There is no soundness in my flesh because of your anger” where we read,
There is no soundness in my flesh because of your anger;
neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.
The verse begins, “There is no soundness in my flesh because of your anger;” David began with the words, “there is no soundness” or “there exists not any wholesomeness or completeness” “in my flesh” which means “within my, David's, body” “because of your anger” or “since and on account of your, Jehovah God's, indignation and fury”. David said there existed no wholesomeness or completeness within his body because of Jehovah God's fury against him.
The verse goes on to say, “neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.” David continued with the words, “neither is there any rest” or “no and not in any way exists there completeness, soundness, welfare, peace and safety” “in my bones” which means “within my, David's, essence, substance and self” “because of my sin” or “since and on account of my, David's, guilt of offense, sacrifice, punishment and purifying for his errors, mistakes and wrongs”. David shared how deeply the guilt and punishment for his “sin” was within him.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David felt horrible because of the guilt and punishment within him. He believed the wrath and fury of Jehovah God was upon him and caused him to have no peace and tranquility inside. He could not “rest” because of the terror. Because God loves people, He will convict them of their sins. We must realize we are sinners who have violated the law of Jehovah God, and this separates us from Him. He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, and when we put our faith and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and begin to sanctify us. God invites everyone to receive His salvation, and He will work within the souls of everyone who comes to Him.
Next time David says, “my iniquities are gone over my head”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
