In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “The full soul loathes an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet”, and in chapter twenty-seven and verse eight of Proverbs Solomon shared about, “a bird that wanders from her nest” where we read,
As a bird that wanders from her nest,
so is a man that wanders from his place.
The verse begins, “As a bird that wanders from her nest, ...” Solomon began with the words, “as a bird that wanders” or “similar and in likeness to a feathered fowl or little bird that flees, departs, moves and strays away” “from her nest” which means “separate and apart from her, the bird's, chamber or dwelling” the following is also true. Solomon referred to a little bird that strays away from it's chamber to describe the following.
The verse goes on to say, “... so is a man that wanders from his place.” Solomon continued with the words, “so is a man that wanders” or “even, also and indeed exists a person whether male or female who flees, departs, moves and strays away” “from his place” which means “separate and apart from his, the person's, station, city, land, region and locality”. Solomon said a person who strays away from their region and locality is similar to the little bird that strays away from it's “nest”.
When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we discover the similarity between a person who strays away from their home and the “little bird” that departs from their “nest”. God has a place for all of us, and there are times He leads us from where we are to other locations, however, leaving a place He has stationed us on our own may lead us into difficulties that we would not have experienced if we had just stayed home. God loves us, and He desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Holy Spirit. When we yield our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and lead us by His Holy Spirit as to when to depart and when to stay within our dwelling places. (See John 16:33)
Next time Solomon says, “ointment and perfume rejoice the heart”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
