In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Every man shall kiss his lips that gives a right answer”, and in chapter twenty-four and verse twenty-seven of Proverbs Solomon said, “prepare your work without” where we read,
Prepare your work without, and make it fit for yourself in the field;
and afterwards build your home.
The verse begins, “Prepare your work without, and make it fit for yourself in the field;” Solomon began with the words, “Prepare your work without” or “make firm, stable, secure and establish your, those reading and listening to Solomon's words', occupation, business and workmanship outside or in the street”, “and make it fit for yourself” which means “and cause it to be ready for your Solomon's readers' own selves” “in the field” or “within the cultivated land, plain or soil”. Solomon instructed his readers and listeners to make stable and secure their occupation and business within the street and to cause their workmanship to be ready in the cultivated land.
The verse continues, “and afterwards build your home.” Solomon added the words, “and afterwards” or “and following behind” “build your home” which means “establish, set up and cause your, the people reading and listening to Solomon's words', dwelling place, abode, household and family to continue”. Solomon told his readers and listeners to establish their homes and family after they have “prepared their work”.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how we are to establish our “work” before we set up our homes and families. This is good advice, and because God loves us, He wants us to be ready to support our families in advance of having them. God desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, and when we yield our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us the wisdom to “prepare” our “work” before we establish our homes.
Next time Solomon says, “be not a witness against your neighbor without cause”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
