In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman”, and in chapter twenty-seven and verse fourteen of Proverbs Solomon shared about, “he that blesses his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning” where we read,
He that blesses his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning,
it shall be counted a curse to him.
The verse begins, “He that blesses his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, ...” Solomon began with the words, “he that blesses his friend” or “the person whether male or female who adores, praises or salutes their intimate companion, fellow-citizen or neighbor” “with a loud voice” which means “by the use of a great, voracious or intense sound, noise, proclamation or yell”, “rising early in the morning” or “starting or getting up betimes within the break of day, sunrise or coming of daylight” the following shall occur. Solomon referred to the person who praises or salutes their intimate companion or fellow-citizen by the use of a voracious voice at the coming of daylight or sunrise.
The verse continues, “... it shall be counted a curse to him.” Solomon added the words, “it shall be counted” or “it, the loud voice, will be esteemed, judged, accounted and regarded” “a curse to him” which means “a vilification or execration to the person who is greeted”. Solomon said the “loud voice” used “early in the morning” will be regarded as a vilification to the person to whom the words were spoken.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how greeting someone at sunrise in a “loud manner” is not regarded as good. In fact, the person receiving the greeting considers it a “curse”. God wants us to use wisdom with others, and not everyone is “wide awake” when they first wake up. God will give us His wisdom when we ask Him for it especially when we submit ourselves to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and cause us to be “wise” with others “early in the morning” and in other times as well when we surrender to Him.
Next time Solomon shares about, “a contentious woman”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
