In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer”, and in chapter twenty-five and verse five of Proverbs Solomon shared what happens when you, “take away the wicked from before the king” where we read,
Take away the wicked from before the king,
and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
The verse begins, “Take away the wicked from before the king, ...” Solomon began with the words, “take away the wicked” or “remove the people who are criminal, guilty of crimes, evil and hostile to God” “from before the king” which means “separate and apart from the royal ruler and leader”. Solomon presented the idea of removing people who are evil and hostile to God from the presence of the royal ruler.
The verse continues, “... and his throne shall be established in righteousness.” Solomon added the words, “and his throne” or “and his, the king's, seat of honor, royal dignity, authority and power” “shall be established” which means “will exist as firm, stable and set up” “in righteousness” or “in justice, rightness, vindication, deliverance and prosperity”. Solomon said the “king's” seat of authority and power would be set up in justice and rightness when the “wicked” are removed before him.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon the value of removing people who are evil and hostile to God from the presence of the ruling authorities. When this occurs, the seat of power and royal dignity are fixed in place, and the country or nation is benefitted by it. God is holy, and there is no unrighteousness before His throne. In order for us to be in the presence of God, we have to have our sins removed, and only His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins is able to remove them. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and purify the “evil” from our lives so we may live eternally before His Holy and “established throne”.
Next time Solomon says, “put not forth yourself in the presence of the king”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
