In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend”, and in chapter twenty-seven and verse eighteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “whoso keeps the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof” where we read,
Whoso keeps the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof:
so he that waits on his master shall be honored.
The verse begins, “Whoso keeps the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof:” Solomon began with the words, “whoso keeps the fig tree” or “whatever person whether male or female who guards, protects, watches over and observes the tree that bears fig fruit” “shall eat the fruit thereof” which means “will consume and devour the fruit from the fig tree”. Solomon said the person who watches over and protects the tree that bears fig fruit will consume “fruit” from that tree.
The verse goes on to say, “so he that waits on his master shall be honored.” Solomon continued with the words, “so he that waits on” or “even, also and indeed he, the person whether male or female, who keeps, guards, observes and watches” “his master” which means “the person's lord, ruler, king or authority” “shall be honored” or “will exist as weighty, promoted and glorified”. Solomon said the person who attends to the authority over them will be promoted and glorified.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how it is important for us to attend to that which Jehovah God has provided to us. When we observe and protect what belongs to Him, He will reward us from the fruit of our labors. God loves us, and He desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of everyone. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us an opportunity to watch over His “fig trees” and reap from the benefits of our labor.
Next time Solomon says, “as in water face answers to face”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
