The Unsearchable - Proverbs 25:3

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings is to search out a matter, and in chapter twenty-five and verse three of Proverbs Solomon shared about things that are “unsearchable”where we read,

The heaven for height, and the earth for depth,

and the heart of kings is unsearchable.

The verse begins, “The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, ... Solomon began with the words, “the heaven for height” or “the visible sky, universe, atmosphere and abode of God in loftiness and elevation”, “and the earth for depth” which means “and the land, country, territory, district, region and world on behalf of how extensively deep it is”. Solomon referred to the lofty elevation of the universe and the extensive degree of the world.

The verse continues, “... and the heart of kings is unsearchable.” Solomon added the words, “and the heart of kings” or “and the soul, mind, will, desires, living being, conscience an seat of emotions and affections belonging to royal rulers and leaders” “is unsearchable” which means “exists as beyond investigation and inquiry”. Solomon said the soul, mind and will of royal leaders and rulers exists as beyond investigation.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon employed the examples of the expansive measure of the “heaven and earth” to attempt describe how beyond investigation the soul, mind and will of the ruling authorities actually are. The idea is that rulers, especially when they have submitted their lives to God through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, is beyond full knowledge. God is the same way. No one knows the “depths”of His knowledge and wisdom, and He shares it with us when we believe and trust in Jesus as our “Savior and Lord” according to His Divine will. God loves us, and when we yield to Him and His ways, we will discover over and over again just how deep His knowledge, will and purpose is for us and all mankind.

Next time Solomon shares what happens when you, “take away the dross from the silver”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
