A Fool Returns to His Folly - Proverbs 26:11

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the great God that formed all things both rewards the fool, and rewards transgressors”, and in chapter twenty-six and verse eleven of Proverbs Solomon said, “a fool returns to his folly” where we read,

As a dog returns to his vomit,

so a fool returns to his folly.

The verse begins, As a dog returns to his vomit, ... Solomon began with the words, “as a dog” or “similar and in likeness to the animal known as a dog” “returns to his vomit” which means “turns and comes back to his, the dog's, regurgitation” the following is true. Solomon referred to the way a “dog” turns back to it's vomit to describe the following.

The verse goes on to say, “... so a fool returns to his folly. Solomon continued with the words, “so a fool” or “even, also and indeed an arrogant dullard, simpleton and foolish person whether male or female” “returns to his folly” which means “turns back to their silliness and foolishness”. Solomon said an arrogant simpleton and foolish person also turns back to their silliness.

When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we discover how people who are arrogantly foolish turn back to their silly ways. Rather than change, these foolish people go back to the same behavior they previously committed. God is able to change people, and our lives will be altered when we believe and trust in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of everyone. God loves us, and He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and cleanse us from all unrighteousness so we never have to “return” to our “foolish ways” ever again.

Next time Solomon asks, “see you a man wise in his own conceit?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
