In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer. Take away the wicked, from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness”, and in chapter twenty-five and verse six of Proverbs Solomon said, “put not forth yourself in the presence of the king” where we read,
Put not forth yourself in the presence of the king,
and stand not in the place of great men:
The verse begins, “Put not forth yourself in the presence of the king, ...” Solomon began with the words, “put not forth yourself” or “do not honor, glorify or adorn in swelling your, the reader and listener of Solomon's words, own self” “in the presence” which means “within the face, front or countenance” “of the king” or “belonging to the royal ruler or leader”. Solomon instructed his readers and listeners not to honor themselves in front of the royal ruler or leader.
The verse goes on to say, “... and stand not in the place of great men:” Solomon continued with the words, “and stand not in the place” or “and do not endure, remain, erect or persist in endurance within the station, office or quarter” “of great men” which means “belonging to intense, loud and important people whether male or female”. Solomon said not to persist and be stationed in the position of important and loud people.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how we are not to honor ourselves in front of ruling authorities nor are we to put ourselves in positions of important and intense people. God wants us to humble ourselves before Him, (See Luke 14:11; 18:14) and when we realize He loves us and proved it by sending us His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, we have the opportunity to surrender to Him to be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and exalted by Him rather than ourselves before Him and other authorities.
Next time Solomon says, “better is it that it be said unto you, Come up here”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
