More Proverbs of Solomon - Proverbs 25:1

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down. Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction. Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep. So shall your poverty come as one that travels; and your want as an armed man, and in chapter twenty-five and verse one of Proverbs the writer said, “these are also the proverbs of Solomon” where we read,

These are also proverbs of Solomon,

which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.

The verse begins, “These are also proverbs of Solomon, ... Solomon began with the words, “these are also proverbs” or “the following even so and indeed exist as proverbial sayings, aphorism, parables or sentences of ethical wisdom and maxims” “of Solomon” which means “belonging to Solomon whose name means peace and was the son of David by Bathsheba and the third king of Israel”. The writer included the following proverbial sayings of ethical wisdom from “Solomon”.

The verse continues, “... which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.” Solomon added the words, “which the men” or “that the male human beings” “of Hezekiah” which means “belonging to Hezekiah whose name means Jehovah is my strength” “king of Judah” or “the twelfth royal ruler and leader of the tribe of Judah whose name means praised ” “copied out” which means “moved, proceeded, advanced and transcribed”. The writer said the male human beings who belonged to King Hezekiah transcribed the following proverbs of Solomon.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through the writer how the “men” who belonged to “King Hezekiah” transcribed the following proverbs that are also attributed to “Solomon”. We should remember that Jehovah God was responsible for the inspiration of all the scriptures, (See 2 Timothy 3:16-17) and these words are meant to help us draw nearer to Jehovah God. When we consider that He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, we have the opportunity to believe and trust in Him for the forgiveness of our sins; everlasting life will be granted to us, and we shall be given the ability to understand what He has to say to us through His Holy Spirit. (See John 16:33)

Next time Solomon says, “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
